ANB 2010 Nationals
Well I just saw this poster on the ANB website and it blew me away. It has reinforced my plans to compete in this years National titles. Well done to the ANB for again leading the way forward and breaking new ground in the sport of NATURAL BODYBUILDING. See you all at the National titles in October 2010.

Image 2: Myself and Dana White, imagine my surprise when I was talking to Steven Perceval and Dana White came over and ask if he could get a photo with me. I said sure no problem THAT'S WHY THE SURPRISE LOOK ON MY FACE!!!
Congratulations to All
I would like to congratulate every single competitor who competed in the 2009 ANB national championships. I was there in the front row cheering and clapping you all on. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it this year but will be back bigger and better in 2010. At my age the result doesn’t really count as long as (A) you make it to the comp and (B) you have improved since your last appearance.
Just getting to the stage is a major accomplishment and if you happen to place highly or even win, that’s an absolute bonus. So once again, congratulations to all of you, you can be justifiably proud of your effort and I look forward to rubbing shoulders with you again next year either on stage or in the audience, it doesn’t matter as long as I’m at a competition.
Cheers
Sam
My Dream Postponed
Hi everyone as of the 13th October I will not be competing in this year’s ANB Nationals due to illness, while it is not major I have not trained nor will I be able to train or do cardio due to my illness I am sure you will all understand that I will not compete half ready. I want to assure you all that I will be competing next year so keep following my progress and I want to thank you all for your understanding and I will be at the Nationals as a spectator.
Cheers

Cardio is the same 60 minutes morning and night,I have started taking horley's fat metabolizes for my evening session as well as the morning session.
I am also using sugar free tang which I find is helping me greatly with adding a bit of taste to my water intake of 4 litters a day not all made with tang.
TRAINING
With 6 weeks left till the nationals I have switched my training back to normal I.e.
Chest, Triceps
Back, Biceps
Shoulders, Traps and calves
Quads and Hamstrings
This is on a rotating schedule and will bust my metabolism as I wont get any bigger now but I just want to try to hold size will reducing body fat my current weight is approx 81kgs and I am right on target hope to compete at approx 76-77kgs.
I am very happy with my progress so far and hope to compete at the central coast classic in 4 weeks as a warm up for the
Nationals.
P.S. congrats to pat (Gibson) who I heard won the grandmasters division at the Newcastle classic well done mate.
P.S.S. I had the hat especially printed for me to keep me motivated looks pretty good.

11 week mark
Well there is 11 weeks till the ANB nationals and my preparations are in full swing. Everything is on target and I feel great, my current eating plan is as follows and my current weight is 88kgs-193lbs.
7 am 6 egg whites and 1 yolk, 1/3 cup rolled oats or grits
10 am 175g protein, 100g mixed vegies

7 pm 175g protein, 100g sweet potato

I have increased my protein from 150 to 175g per meal but left carbs the same, this should allow me to hold more muscle while dieting, also I have increased muscle size over last year.
Cardio is:
60 minutes on an empty stomach except for 4 horleys fat metabolizes
60 minutes before bed, that is 6 days a week.
As I said I am going all out for the Nationals. I will be posting some update photos shortly so keep an eye out for them.
Cheers and thank you for following my progress

With the Christmas season quickly approaching I wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry and safe Christmas and New Year period. Be safe so we can see you next year on stage and in the crowd. I am currently on my off season eating pattern and my current body weight is 83kgs
I have also added more photo’s from the Australia taken by my daughter.

Well the nationals have come and gone and without wanting to sound too patronising, it was a fantastic show run immaculately over both days with both competitor and audience numbers setting new records, with 204 competitors.
I placed 3rd in a top field of 10 competitors, that's a jump of 1 place from last year and I could not be happier with that, plus the improvements I made during the previous year both physically and mentally. I have thoroughly enjoyed my return to competitive bodybuilding and look forward to making more improvements during next year to come in even bigger and sharper.
Next year ... the ANB GRANDMASTERS NATIONAL TITLE WILL BE MINE, I have already started my 2009 campaign, so this is not the end of the year for me, its the beginning of the year - see you all at the 2009 nationals.
I will also be competing in the Asia Pacific International on the Gold Coast in May 2009 this is going to be a fantastic show to be in, so I urge all competitors to pencil this show into your contest list for 2009.
I want to thank everyone for their support and to the other competitors who came up to me for a chat and said hi and how much they enjoyed the website. Thank you it means a lot to me truly.
I will be posting more photos and recipes, so please continue to checkout this site for new developments, cheers have a great Christmas.
Check out these two images whilst I get the others processed. One outside pumping up and the other on stage with my trophy. Cheers
Sam
Well with just over 1 week to the nationals I thought I would let you know about my progress. My current weight is 75kg and everything is on target, this photo was taken at the 2008 central coast championships I weighed 76kgs, that's me in the blue posing costume for anyone that doesn't know me. My current diet is:
7am 150gms protein
100gms sweet potato
10am 150gms protein
100gms asparagus
1pm 150gms protein
100g asparagus
4pm 150g protein
100g sweet potato
8pm 150g protein
100g sweet potato
BB 100g protein
Between meals I take 4-5 amino pro complex and 3-4 bcaa tablets to keep my nitrogen levels high and it is working well. My plan is to be harder than at the Central Coast, cardio is a minimum 2 hours max, 3 hours daily 1HR before breakfast, 1HR before and 1HR in the afternoon if time permits.
Thank you to all who wished me well at the Central Coast championships and for the upcoming nationals. Your comments and well wishes are very much appreciated. Please be sure to come up and say hi at the Nationals I will be glad to see you.
Cheers

Hi Everyone
Here is the latest update to my journey, firstly can I say that the flu not only hampered my training but messed up my mind as well. I just couldn't get my head around the diet, all is well now and I am looking forward not only to the Australia but also my cardio and dieting programmes as well.
All aspects of competition preparation are now back on track, special thanks to my friend long time training partner Mark (tiny) Pullen he has helped me all the way and thanks to Bryon a young up and coming bodybuilder in the gym who always asked how my progress is going and jumps in and trains with me when tiny can’t make it to the gym.
Bryon also has aspirations of competing one day in an ANB federation competition, he has lots of potential and heart so I believe he will compete one day (go for it Bryon).
With just over 6 weeks to the Australia I am refocused, re-motivated and supercharged. I will be posting updated photos shortly so please keep watch I’M BACK.
Check my training partners in the image below, Mark (tiny) in the jumper and Bryon in the white singlet, thanks guys your efforts are much appreciated.

Hi everyone,
Here is the latest update on my Australia preparation. I haven't trained for the last 2 week due to the flu, it has never been this bad before. I've been eating plenty of chicken soup and aminos to hold my shape, feeling great in the mornings then rats by lunch time.
Antibiotics are helping a bit. I will be back in training and cardio on Monday 18.8.08. 10 weeks out Wohooo!!!!
I will be in the Australia line up, no worries I will just have to work harder!
Cheers and keep watching

Hello loyal followers,
I would like to take a few moments of your precious time to explain a revision of my competition priorities and goals as they pertain to the ANB. Let my start by saying the ANB NATIONAL TITLES on October 25/26 2008 are still very high on my priority list. However they have been overtaken as number 1 priority by the ANB ASIA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL promoted by Steve Jones of POWERZONE Nutrition to be held on the Gold Coast on May 30TH, 2009.
Let me state quite categorically, I will be competing in the ANB NATIONAL TITLES in October and I will be in better shape than my previous competitions. However the opportunity to compete against overseas competitors and learn from them and show the world how we stack up against them is an opportunity I can’t or won’t pass up.
So I call upon all ANB competitors to band together and take this opportunity to show the world where we are at. The ASIA PACIFIC INVITATIONAL is 11 months away and I know that sounds like a life time away however as bodybuilders we know that with a growing phase and diet phase, it’s not all that long so let’s start today.
I know I buy all the magazines to see all the overseas stars, imagine buying the magazines and maybe seeing your own photo alongside international competitors, what a buzz that will be and I know for sure that I want to be part of that.
Come and join me on my journey to the ANB ASIA PACIFIC INVITATIONAL on the Gold Coast in May 2009. If you have any questions regarding your diet, training, or motivation contact me direct through this website and I will be only too happy to try to help you.
I don’t know about you but "ANB international competitor" sounds great to me!
So let’s make the decision together right now!
The 2009 ANB Asia Pacific International is on my competition calendar as of today, is it marked on yours? Check back regularly on this page and enjoy the journey as we go along together.
Hello everyone!
The ANB Sydney championships have come and gone, I reached my goal weight of 69.8kg on the day so I am very pleased about that. I placed 2nd in the Grandmasters division as well as picking up the male overall best posing award beating out an estimated 80 other bodybuilders from all age and weight divisions. I knew I could pose because I believe in myself but had no idea that I would win this most prestigious award.
These results are very pleasing and from all reports I am improving with each show and that is my ultimate goal. Remember, it doesn't matter if you place first or not as long as you are improving and developing your physique, that's what bodybuilding is all about.
How you look on a given day to the judges is important but looking better and feeling healthier every day within yourself is your ultimate reward. It’s never too early and more importantly it’s never too late to make the changes, start right now by going for a walk and get the heart and lungs pumping.
I want to say thank you to all the people who said hi at the show and who have followed my journey to the ANB Sydney show, and I invite you to continue the journey on to the ANB Australian National Titles in October at the Marconi Club.
Please keep watching as I would love to keep in touch with all the friends I have made in the ANB and all the future friends I have yet still to make.
Cheers
Grandmastersam
